About
A founder-led practice, built deliberately
Northward Advisory is an independent firm based in Toronto, focused on one thing: funding strategy and the financial readiness behind it.
The practice
Finance discipline, applied to funding
The practice draws on experience in finance, investment research, business analysis, grant research, proposal development, and financial modelling. That background shapes how the work is done: funding applications here are prepared the way an analyst prepares a case — the eligibility read is literal, the budget reconciles, and the numbers carry the argument.
Northward is a young firm, and it says so. It competes on rigour, honesty, and responsiveness rather than on the size of its office, and it grows the way good advisory firms have always grown — one well-handled engagement at a time.
Where a matter calls for a licensed professional — legal, accounting, tax, or immigration — we say so and refer you to one. We maintain relationships with external professionals for exactly that purpose.
How we practice
Four working principles
Say the true thing early
If a program is a poor fit or the honest answer is 'do not apply,' you hear it at the assessment stage — before you have spent real money.
The numbers are the argument
A budget that reconciles and a forecast with visible assumptions do more persuading than any adjective. Financial readiness is treated as core work, not an add-on.
Fees that cannot bend the advice
Because the price is settled up front, ‘don’t apply’ remains available advice — sometimes the most valuable kind.
Scope in writing, always
Every engagement begins with a written scope: the deliverable, the fee, and the boundaries. Professional relationships work better when nobody is guessing.
Judge the practice by a conversation.
A brief call is enough to see how we think about your situation. If we are not the right fit, we will tell you — and try to point you somewhere better.
